A horrifyingly humorous portrait of monsters living in the suburbs, Scary Gary chronicles the death and times of Gary, a 700 year old vampire who, after an eternity of performing nefarious deeds, decides to hang up his cape and retire to a sleepy suburban neighborhood. Swapping blood for coffee, Gary wants nothing more than to quietly blend into the suburban landscape. Not an easy task when your barbaric henchman is terrorizing the neighbors. The cast of wise-cracking oddities includes Travis, a painfully optimistic severed head in a jar, and Frank and Steve, two of Dr. Frankenstein’s creations whose feelings for each other are greater than the sum of their parts. 

Starting from the first appearance of Scary Gary in 2008, "A Good Severed Head is Hard to Find" compiles the first full year of strips, along with bonus material that includes early character sketches and drawings from Mark Buford’s Scary Gary sketchbook.
